How Hope on Wheels helps
At Hope on Wheels, we believe everyone deserves support, no matter where they are. Our mobile outreach unit brings essential services, compassion, and hope directly to rural communities across Alberta, reaching those who need it most.
Our mobile outreach
We drive directly into small towns where people often have no shelters, no detox, and no outreach workers. Our converted shuttle bus or motorhome acts as a lifeline, bringing essential supplies and human connection right to their doorstep.
We provide vital hygiene kits, snack packs, and warm clothing to those in need, offering immediate relief and comfort.
Essential kits
Harm reduction
We deliver harm-reduction supplies and education to keep individuals safer, reduce overdoses, and build trust within communities.
Emotional support
Beyond supplies, we offer crucial emotional support and genuine human connection, reminding people they matter.
Meeting people where they are
Our approach is rooted in compassion and respect. We connect with individuals without judgment, providing a safe space and necessary resources.
Resource Navigation
When someone is ready for the next step, we help them get there.
Support includes:
- Detox referrals
- Treatment navigation
- Housing supports
- ID replacement
- Accessing local services (when available)
Our harm-reduction approach
We meet people exactly where they are—without judgment. Our harm-reduction approach keeps people safer, reduces overdoses, and builds trust within the community. This includes providing vital resources such as naloxone kits, safer-use supplies, and overdose prevention education.
Compassionate connection
Sometimes the most powerful thing we offer is time. We listen, talk, laugh, cry, and remind people they matter. We show up with respect, dignity, zero judgment, and real human connection. This personal interaction is at the heart of everything we do.
